Preserving our Past, Creating our Future
Dedicated to the Preservation and Economic Growth in Winsted
Friends of Main Street is leading Winsted's revitalization through programs which build economic vitality and stability, active and on-going promotion of our downtown and our merchants, and continued beautification of our public areas.
In 1999, residents and business owners in Winsted joined hands and envisioned a more lively and prosperous community. Their goals were ambitious, and began with the suggestion that Winsted pursue membership in the Connecticut Main Street Program. This prestigious membership was achieved in 2001.
Today, Friends of Main Street thrives as a 501 (c) 3 organization. We proudly received our National Accreditation from the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2006 and 2007. Our dynamic Board of Directors employs a full time Executive Director, 100 volunteers and over 350 business and individual members from the community.
